Kicking Myself. Literally.

Apparently there are a certain number of variables that when combined lead to bloody ankles. Or rather, just one bloody ankle. This morning's workout went great (I even took off a layer!), but I just can't stop kicking myself in the left ankle. Maybe I'm clumsy or my body's twisted or it has something to do with the small, bumpy, gravel track I use (even though I go both directions). On Sunday it was so cold that I didn't even feel my sore ankle. When I got home, though, there was blood all over my expensive running sock. Blast! Does this ever happen to anyone else or am I just a freak with one bloody ankle?

Tuesday's workout:
5 mile run
6 x 20 second strides

Today's workout:
2 mile warm up
8 x 5 minutes at tempo pace with 30 second rests (I use the term "rests" loosely)
2 mile cool down

I think I'm getting sympathy pains, that just sounds horrible! Closest I've ever had to that is one time I knocked knees so hard I bruised myself. Now that was humbling ;-).

My doc is horrible. He told his nurse to tell me... and I quote... "Humans are not built to run. Quit running and the pain will go away."

What is with people? Seriously.

found your blog when searching for a reason that I keep kicking my ankle. Seriously, there has to be some muscle imbalance that is causing this - it's driving my nuts! Maybe you've found a cure since January? Hope you are well and still running. Back to my search for now...
