Normally I'm not sore after my long runs, but yesterday was an exception. It must have been the lunges and squats I did the day before. I thought they wouldn't make a difference. Ooops.
The run itself was fine, except I started noticing hotspots on my toes around mile 15. Then, when I stopped, the lactic acid hit. It felt like it did after the marathon last year. During a brief, pathetic stretch I shouted to Dave, "Please start filling the bathtub with cold water." He gave me The Look and did as I asked. I think he mumbled something about me being "loco". Ten minutes in cold water (only two of which were excrutiating) and I was numb and feeling good. I tried to move around the rest of the day to keep things loose.
Today I did the unthinkable. I took the morning off from running AND tried not to beat myself up about it. I know it's the best thing because I'm still sore and blistered (and running would only make it worse, especially less than three weeks from the race), but it's HAAARD!
Today's workout:
Not much of anything
Yesterday's workout:
2 miles easy
15 miles at 8:15 min/mi pace
2 miles easy
Also, I am desperately in search of interesting snack mix. I'm getting sick of trail mix, etc.

Wasabi soybeans, pumpkin seeds, and banana chips (oddly enough) have been my snack of choice lately. Not necessarily all together at the same time though. Larabars too... but those are a bit sweet to me. Not to mention the recent obsession with blue corn chips and organic salsa. I'm a huge dipper so 5 chips are enough for an entire cup of salsa so I guess that's not much of a "sin food" anyways.
This vegan stuff is fun :-).
I'm so jealous :-). I want a 8:15 pace at that distance! I'm going to go do a hearty 10 miles in a minute here and I'm just praying to beat my 11:25 average pace from my 10K run Friday.
Less than 3 weeks away... wow I'm so going to die :-(. I should have picked a race in the summer or something because this one is coming just way too quickly. No shame in walking a bit, is there?
I just thought of another fav. snack. I make my own popcorn in just a bit of olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt. Prior to being vegan, I used to spray Olivio spray butter on it before seasoning and that was pretty good/low cal too. Cheapest snack known to man at $0.15/quart sized bag.
